Introduction to publishing through Your P.O.D.

There are generally two reasons for using a print on demand service such as ours:

You are an author who has written a manuscript, either fiction or non-fiction and would like to see your book in print and available for others to buy, perhaps friends and family and a local audience.
you want to print a one off book containing either work, recipes, poems, emails to/ from a loved one etc.

To this end we offer an 'Author Package' which is priced competitively even for those wanting a one off publication. You get a personal service and we are geared towards low-run printing (from ONE to 15 per single order.) Note, we have not listed above as a reason to use our service, "an author looking to sell thousands of copies of their work and make millions of pounds doing so". Some POD sites do imply this is a great alternative to traditional publishing, we do not! Seriously, 'best sellers' are few and far between, and 'traditional publishers' that place copies on every bookstore shelf in the land, are more likely to create a best seller than POD.

The truth is, traditional publishing is risky (to the publisher) and they will take on only a select few manuscripts per year. Your work may or may not be worthy of the title 'best seller' but it may not even be read when submitted to a traditional publisher.

If you want to make a fortune writing a book, then POD can only help by putting your finished book into the hands of a small audience who can feedback on your work, but we would still recommend sending your manuscript into as many 'traditional' publishers as possible. Persistence, a willingness to accept advice and criticism, hone your craft and work on your manuscript to refine it and you may make it. Above all else, ENJOY the process of writing and with Your P.O.D. ENJOY seeing your finished manuscript as a real book you can cherish.
